Suggested 7–8 Hour Itinerary
1. Hotel Pickup and Introduction to Guangzhou
Your private guide and driver will meet you at your downtown Guangzhou hotel. The exact starting time can be adjusted according to your schedule, traffic conditions and preferred finishing time.
During the drive to the first area, your guide will introduce the basic geography of Guangzhou and explain how the old Cantonese city, the historical walled centre and the newer business districts relate to one another.
2. Sai Kwan (Xiguan) — Traditional Old Canton
The first part of the tour focuses on Sai Kwan, also commonly called Xiguan, one of the best areas for understanding traditional Guangzhou. Rather than simply stopping at one monument, we explore the relationship between old streets, markets, local food, historical buildings and everyday neighbourhood life.
Depending on timing and your interests, the route may include sections of the historical Xiguan area, local market streets, traditional architecture, old commercial lanes, neighbourhood temples or ancestral spaces, and areas connected with the history of Canton trade.

3. Optional Local Cantonese Lunch
Lunch is flexible and can be arranged according to your appetite and preferences. We generally prefer ordinary local restaurants rather than tourist-oriented dining venues.
Possible choices may include dim sum, roast meats, steamed fish, Cantonese soups, bamboo-pole noodles, double-skin milk or other local dishes. Food is not included in the tour price so that you can choose freely based on your interests and budget.
4. Yuexiu Park and the Surviving Ming-Dynasty City Wall
We then continue to the historical centre around Yuexiu Park, where one of the surviving sections of Guangzhou’s old city wall can still be seen. This part of the route helps explain the development of Guangzhou before the twentieth-century road system replaced much of the old defensive structure.

The route may include the Ming-dynasty city wall, the Five-Ram Sculpture, Zhenhai Tower from outside, the Sun Yat-sen Monument and other historical features within or near Yuexiu Park.
Historical context: Guangzhou has more than two thousand years of urban history. The surviving wall section seen today belongs to later phases of the city’s expansion, including the Ming period. Much of the old wall system was demolished in the early twentieth century as modern roads were constructed.
5. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Area
Depending on time and traffic, the tour can continue through the area around Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. This section provides a useful transition from imperial-era Guangzhou into the political changes of the early twentieth century.
The emphasis is on historical context rather than spending a long time inside every attraction. If you specifically want to visit museum interiors, the itinerary can be adjusted in advance.
6. Zhujiang New Town and Flower City Square
The final major section of the tour moves into Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou’s modern CBD. After seeing the older city earlier in the day, the scale of the change becomes much easier to understand.

We can walk through Flower City Square and view major modern landmarks from outside, including Canton Tower, Haixinsha, Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou Library, Guangzhou Opera House and the surrounding skyscrapers.
This part of the tour is not intended as a simple skyscraper photo stop. The contrast with Xiguan and Yuexiu earlier in the day helps explain how Guangzhou expanded geographically, economically and architecturally over the past several decades.
7. Return to Hotel
At the end of the tour, the driver will return you to your downtown Guangzhou hotel. The exact finishing time depends on traffic, the pace of the group and any optional stops included during the day.
