Huangpu Military Academy
Huangpu Military Academy is located on Changzhou Island which is a small and peaceful island located in the Huangpu district, east Guangzhou. The western exit of the island is linked to Guangzhou University Town by a bridge. Many cultural relics and attractions including the Huangpu Custom's relics of the Qing Dynasty are situated there. As a natural island, beautiful green landscapes with ancient residences are everywhere. You can appreciate the passing fishing boats on the river.
Guangzhou Shamian Island
Shamian Island is a small oval island, and it is now connected to the rest of the city by a series of bridges. The name of the island means 'sandy face' in Chinese. The island has witnessed the colonial history of Guangzhou and has developed with Guangzhou, seeing the great changes of the city.
Yuexiu Park
Yuexiu Park is the largest park in downtown Guangzhou. Covering an area of 860,000 square meters (212.5 acres), it is made up of three artificial lakes and seven hills of Yuexiu Mountain; hence the name Yuexiu Park. It is a perfect combination of cultural relics and ecological tourism, reputed for its pretty water and hills as well as cultural relics. The main places of interest include the stone sculpture of the Five Rams, Zhenhai Tower, the site of the Ming Dynasty City Wall, and Square Cannon Site.
Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall
Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall was built to commemorate the contributions of Sun Zhongshan, the great predecessor of the Chinese revolution for democracy. It is a memorial construction donated by the people in Guangzhou and the overseas Chinese and is listed as one of the first-class cultural relics in Guangdong Province. It is a magnificent building in the shape of an octagon and an important place for large scale meetings and performance.
