Home Travel Guide Around Guangzhou Grand Canyon of Guangdong

Grand Canyon of Guangdong

Guangdong Ruyuan Grand Canyon

Guangdong is not known for its nature and scenery, but you will be amazed at the surprisingly unspoiled nature at the Guangdong Grand Canyon, here you will find turquoise water and countless waterfalls, which is great for summer hiking. The canyon, one of the quartz sandstone canyon landforms, it is a beautiful natural landmark located in Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County in Shaoguan.

The Guangdong Grand Canyon has formed 130 million years ago due to the repeated tectonic movements and erosion of the Nanling mountain range in southern China. The canyon is more than 300 meters deep, 15 kilometers long. One of the best attractiveness of the Ruyuan Grand Canyon is the numerous waterfalls. The waterfall is formed when the streams gathered on the top of the canyon and then poured down along the ladder-like cliffs, which produces a 200-meter drop and a sound seeming to shake the whole valley.

For those who enjoy physical challenges, ascend the “Heavenly Stairs,” a 1,386-step staircase from the bottom to the top of the canyon.
