Shamian Buildings (沙面建筑群): History says that Shamian Island in Guangzhou was offered by the Qing Dynasty to the European and American colonial forces trading in Guangzhou in the 19th century.You will find lot of buildings including churches displaying the western architecture.Spot several bronze statues including the one entitled “A gentleman, a lady and a darn woman” depicting a Western couple watching a Chinese women mending cloth.Another statue shows Chinese women in different postures like in traditional clothing, in a cheongsam and in shorts.As you go towards the northern side of Shamian Island in Guangzhou, you will find Shamian Park from where you can have a clear view of Guangzhou.

Xiguan Big House(西关大屋): the big house of Xiguan is the traditional folk house belonging to the rich and powerful family and the wealthy merchant in the "Xiguan Corner" (the present Liwan District) in Guangzhou, known as "Ancient Big House". This kind of house is usually deep with 3 compartments and 2 corridors in the bilateral symmetry, and in the center is the principal hall. Along the axle line is the porch, hallway, sedan-chair hall, main hall, front cubicle, secondary hall and the secondary room in sequence, each hall is one row and separated by the small patio from other halls.Here visitors shall find traditional buildings and well a numerous Cantonese restaurants, tea houses, and shops selling local snacks.
